Don't Type It. Say It. The Fastest Friction to Remove From Your Workday

I did not realize how much time I was losing to typing until I stopped. Not in a dramatic way. Just in the middle of normal work. Answering questions. Writing prompts. Trying to get thoughts into something usable. It always felt like I was moving fast. I was not. I was slowing everything down one sentence at a time.

This is a small thing, but for a business it adds up. Every proposal, every email, every set of instructions, every prompt you feed a tool, is bottlenecked by how fast your fingers move. And you can think a lot faster than you can type.

The fix I added to my stack was voice dictation. There are a few good tools for this now, and most computers and phones have a version built in. You hold a key, start talking, and it captures everything. That part is not new. We have all used voice to text. What is better now is how the good ones handle what you say. If you are thinking in bullet points, it formats it that way. If you are listing things out, it organizes them. It cleans up your speech just enough to make it usable without overdoing it. It feels closer to translating your thoughts than dictating them.

Where it really clicked for me was using it with AI. I like having AI ask me twenty or thirty questions when I am building something out, because that is what forces clarity. Before, I would sit there typing every answer, and it was slow and choppy. Now I just talk through everything. No stopping. No editing mid-thought. Just getting it out. And because of that I move to the next step faster, then the next one after that.

That is the part that connects to everything else. Getting more out of AI is not only about adding tools. It is about removing friction between your brain and execution. Typing is one of the biggest points of friction in a normal workday, and most people never think to remove it.

You will know within a day or two whether it fits how you work. Most tools have a free version that is enough to start. Turn it on for one afternoon of real work and see how much faster you move. This is one of those things you do not really understand until you try it.
